This blog covers sports in the Charlotte area.  I came up with the idea to start this blog in March 2008 when Charlotte hosted the ACC tournament and a NCAA regional, and when an area college basketball team, the Davidson Wildcats, went on a Cinderella run to the Elite 8 in the NCAA tournament.    This blog is mainly devoted to Charlotte’s two professional teams, the Panthers and Bobcats, but it will also cover other sporting events in the area, such as the Wachovia Championship and the NASCAR races.  Call it alumni bias, but I consider Davidson to be a Charlotte-area team and they will receive a lot of coverage for at least this year while they are on the national stage.  I admit that I can be a fair-weather fan at times, but this blog is not geared towards providing game to game coverage for every team in the area.  Instead, I will analyze the broader issues with Charlotte’s teams.  Therefore, you will notice that the Charlotte 49ers will not receive a lot of coverage in the immediate future, but I will have updates on any big issues with the football expansion plans and will give some coverage to the basketball program once they get back to their winning ways of old.  Sorry ACC and SEC fans but I don’t consider your teams to be in the Charlotte-area, although they will get coverage when they are in town.  Plus, I’m sure there are many blogs out there about those schools!
